An Analysis on the Relationship between the Nursing Director´s Leadership Style and the Organizational Climate of the Hospital

Abstract

|
It is the purpose of this study to identify the leadership style of nursing director, the climate of the hospital and the relationship between the leadership style and the climate of the. hospital.
470 nurses were randomly sampled from all parts of this country and administered the modified Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire and Organizational Climate Description Questionnaire.
The main findings of this study were as follows:
1) The director´s leadership style was closer to initiating structure leadership style.
2) The director´s leadership was more effective in private hospitals than the national hospitals.
3) The organizational climate of hospital was closer to the closed climate than the open climate.
4) The organizational climate was more open in private hospitals than the national hospitals.
5) The director´s leadership style and the organizational climate of hospital were not showed any significant relation.
